I’m New To Entrecard!
I had to find out what all the fuss was about Entrecard.com! Users create a 125 x 125 business card for their site. They then visit other members’ sites and “drop” their card on the site.
This is very popular on many blogs these days, especially Today.com blogs. I had to look into it to understand the pros and cons of joining and becoming an active member.
Pros:
- More traffic. The idea behind the program is to bring more traffic to your blog. That’s always good!
- Free. The program can be free if a user spends time visiting other member sites and gaining credits.
- Well categorized. Blogs are put into categories and the system is very clean. It’s very simple to find blogs on a certain topic, such as making money online blogs, arts and crafts blogs, or politics blog.
- Friends! Meet other bloggers looking for more readers and traffic too.
- Loyalists! There are some great members who are very careful to return the visit.
Cons:
- Time consuming. I don’t want bloggers to forget their main mission: content. Dropping and getting credits should not be the blogger’s main focus. Your blog will be successful if you continually post quality content.
- Heavy focus on top 10 droppers. These stars get a lot of attention, but the site has many many users! They should focus more on real time droppers.
- Low return rate. Keep in mind that for every website you visit, you aren’t necessarily going to get a visit in return. There are plenty of duds too.

welcome to entrecard :)
Welcome to Entrecard. Interesting pro & con list. I find that it’s easier to just drop on the crap sites…but the really good ones I get stuck reading, commenting, and reading some more. I am never one of those “top droppers” I’m afraid.
Thanks for stopping by my site at girly anti-geek, although I think the linky thing with my name would take you to my other home. ;)
…or…maybe not. :)
Nevermind the part about the linky thing on my name. See what I mean about anti-geek? I should just be girly idiot. ;)
